203-222-3122 rharris@levettrockwood.com Rob on LinkedIn Rob advises business clients with a particular background in investment management and hedge fund entities, and represents businesses in litigation, arbitration and mediation proceedings. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator, with particular interest and experience in partnership and corporate governance issues, and the rights and obligations that exist between owners, principals and senior executives of closely held and family businesses. For his first 22 years of practice, Rob served as a litigator of commercial, construction and employment disputes, focusing on business torts, including the prosecution and defense of claims involving the misappropriation of corporate and partnership opportunities, lender liability, theft of trade secrets, and termination of distributorships and franchises. His achievements include representation of the prevailing party in Ostrowski v. Avery, 703 A.2d 117 (Conn. 1997), considered a defining case regarding the obligations owed by a corporation and management to minority shareholders. In 2005, Rob became general counsel, chief administrative officer and corporate secretary to OpHedge Investment Services, LLC, a multinational hedge fund administrator that serviced some of the industry's largest and most complex hedge funds and asset managers. At OpHedge, Rob had ownership of all legal matters for the company and its three international subsidiaries, and was a member of the senior management team that in five years took the company from start up to a successful exit liquidity event. Since 1990 Rob has provided services as an arbitrator and mediator. He is a panel member for the American Arbitration Center and the American Dispute Resolution Center. Rob served for three years as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section. In 2004, Rob was honored with the "The Honorable Robert C. Zampano Award for Excellence in Mediation," named after a Connecticut federal judge renowned for his dispute resolution skills. He is also author of Golf Dispute Resolution , a blog devoted to the intersection of golf and law. Rob received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College and his law degree from the University of Virginia. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York.
